Amine and vitamin K1 are essential for enhancing the growth of certain severely anaerobic bacteria. In addition to being a basic nutritional supplement, amine also helps in the production of Porphyromonas melaninogenicus pigments.
Sheep blood provides complementary nutrients and is used to detect hemolytic reactions.
